Web design hourly rate calculator
Figuring out your hourly rate should be very simple:
(expenses + salary) ÷ hours worked per year + margin = hourly rate
So the formula for an entry-level web designer might look like this example:
($20k expenses + $60k salary) ÷ 1,500 hrs + 10% margin = $58.66/hr.
"If someone is doing billable work and doesn’t know his or her baseline hourly rate, I would bet they will be out of business in 18 months." --Brian Fling
Know Your Hourly Rates:
How this work?:
- Expenses: Your year expenses
- Salary: Your expected (or desired) annual salary
- Hours/Year: How many hours you worked during the year
- Margin: An estimated cushion margin
(expenses + salary) ÷ hours worked per year + margin = hourly rate
